[we're gonna play fast and loose on the medicine checks here. Fukawa flinches. The flush does fade by slender margins, the swelling of the bite diminishes. At last that flinch turns to bleary blinking.]

[She stares up at him, blank as a whiteboard.

Then she jerks, rolls over, and vomits on the cobblestone.]

[Fukawa flinches. Roland's heart skips a figurative beat.

Then she rolls away to vomit and he instinctively reaches out to pull her hair back from the resultant mess. As feverish as he is, he feels the relief foremost.]

I've got you. [He speaks softly, hoping to soothe her through the physical discomfort of retching as he gathers the loose strands framing her face.] You're all right.

[She spits up a little more, then trails off with a miserable keen.]
