...Man, how are you out here hitting every nail on the head?
[It's as if he's been tagging along with the gang the whole time. It's much more elegantly put, but the speech reminds him of the immediate outcry his friends made when confronting the Fairy with the Turquoise Hair.
The question is damn near omniscient too. Pinocchio scrubs his face gives a bitter sigh.]
Shit, what wouldn't I change? That's the whole problem, I'm telling you, we gotta — we're trying to change our destinies.
Because right now, we don't get to choose who we are or what we do. And if all you were made to do is make mistakes and get your ass kicked for it, then like, how are you supposed to be good all the time? Isn't it normal to lie once in a while? Or mess up, or get angry, or steal a little bottle of something...oh.
[He almost forgot.
He reaches for his pack and withdraws a bottle of whisky. It's shortly uncorked and swigged, then offered up to his new pal.]
Here. [Have at her, buddy. They probably both need it.] What about you? What would you change?

It's normal to do those things. You must only think about whether you are hurting others when you do so.
[Who gets hurt when you lie, you or someone else? Who gets hurt when you become angry, you or someone else? Who is missing something when you decide to steal a little bottle of something, you... or someone else?
He keeps his hand on the back of Pinocchio's shoulder, but shakes his head dismissively and waves the other hand in polite rejection.]
Thank you, but I'm alright. I don't drink. [He does not sound offended he had been asked, though.] I don't know if I would change anything. Not about that moment.
Maybe trying to convince my father not to act rashly enough to be shot.

[Some people sort of deserved to be hurt. Like, he doesn't feel bad about taking out the Baron of the Bricks. And he doesn't feel bad for trying to take grapes from that vineyard when he was starving. Even if he'd been caught in a trap immediately and then collared and made to act as a watchdog. Sometimes the size of the crime should be weighed equally against the punishment.
Like lying to save your father's life and losing your hard-won humanity for it. Which was the greater offense there?
He nods at the dismissal, taking a bleak second swig himself. It's the last of his Toy Island stash, so the whisky is not great. But he thinks there was more in the house? He's sure he saw a couple bottles in a tall cupboard in the kitchen. Maybe that'll actually be aged. This stuff is too fresh to do much, especially as he only gets an echo of the alcoholic effects. It'd be nice to feel the full wash for once.
He takes a third, then cradles the bottle in his lap. Nearly done. Seeing that last splash swish around at the bottom makes him feel antsy. Alone.]
What did he do? [Maybe that's none of his business, but thanks to that fucking snake they'd seen a hell of a lot of business already.] Was it something to do with all those animals? Or the fire in the woods?
[Nothing about D's nightmare had made sense.]

He does not try to stop Pinocchio from drinking, or even sitting here and feeling bad about a whole manner of things. His place is removed from the act of stopping others (especially humans) from self-sabotaging. Sometimes, that is simply your whole shtick. Watching them self-sabotage.
The hand stays on Pinocchio's back, though, a tether of comfort.]
He threatened to unleash a virus that would kill every human. He was trying to save the world from them. They've forgotten how much they share with other creatures, with plants and animals, with the planet. So many of them are dying at the hands of humans.
The detective shot him to stop him.
[Which is why dear ol' dad was lying on the ground with a hole between the eyes.]

But — wasn't he human too?
[Unless this was another case of things not being what they seem. The Big Bad Wolf disguised himself as Red's grandma, and the Fairies could pull all kinds of magical bullshit.
And being part of a group never stopped anyone from trying to destroy it.]
I mean, I guess I can...like, yeah, I can see why someone might think that way? But any time you start thinking it's gotta be everyone or no one at all, you're making yourself the biggest problem. [He might not notice it himself, but there's a decided lean into the hand at his back.]
But, still, he's your dad. Are you doing okay man? [Pinocchio looks up to him, painted eyes blinking, mouth twisted.] I know it's hard, when it's family, and they've got the wrong idea about something.
