2.0: Event Log

1. DUNGEON: THE STORM AROUND AVISLE CITY

Honey, there's a storm brewing.

… Actually, it's already brewed! Adventurers who arrive in the ON world this month will notice a vicious storm of thunder, lighting and hail roaring across Avisle City and its surrounding area. And while they're free to go "nope", and opt to keep to safer locations, they'll find that it's very easy to misstep and end up lost in the storm…

Task: Navigate to Avisle City and put a stop to the storm.
Reward: ?̷̡̱̠̺̭̪̯͋̆̒ͅ?̷͈͈̹͇͆̐̈͌̀?̷̨͇̤̲̱̭̙͙̣͒̒̓̏̂͒̓̂̕

Chamber 1: blow your house down

Better hold onto your hats, the storm whipping around the city is brutal and deadly, and it's easy to get blown off your feet and sent hurtling through the air into the first solid object in your trajectory—hopefully another soft, squishy person.

Hapless Adventurers aren't the only ones whipping through the air either. From the city, miscellaneous pieces of property rain down from the sky—doors, flower pots, clothes to name a few. From the Windhaven Woodlands however, small Hummingshrews and Bloobettes will find themselves displaced in the storm. Terrified and unused to being airborne, Adventurers might find themselves being stabbed by the tiny beak of a Hummingshrew or pulled into the gelatinous bodies of a Bloobette.

While you fight your way through the chaotic wind and the rain toward Avisle City, eventually, a loud C R A C K will resound through the air, and that's all the warning you'll get before huge windmill blades will start to hurtle toward you. Better get good at dodging!

Chamber 2: the water is mischievous

Whoever manages to dodge all of the windmill blades will find that once they're lodged in the ground, they actually make decent shields against the howling wind, and by ducking behind them as much as possible, it's possible to make it through the storm to the city.

However, the closer to the city you get, the higher the water underfoot becomes until it reaches nearly your waist. And sometimes… the water seems alive. It swirls around your body, urging you to drink as if the water were the most appealing of wines. The temptation will feel unusually strong, almost hypnotic in its call.

Anyone who drinks the water will start to notice their limbs transform into water. While looking like water, they will remain solid for the first few minutes, and the effect can be counterattacked by squeezing the affected limb like wringing water from a towel. Failure to squeeze out the water will result in the body part being washed away.

Chamber 3: a long boy

Upon finally staggering to Avisle City, Adventurers will at last come face to face with the source of the destruction: a massive serpentine dragon coiled in the clouds above the city. It seems ignorant of the plight and panic ravaging the city, but if any of the brave (and clever) among you manage to launch an attack to where it's stationed in the sky, a deep rumble of thunder will follow before…

Elemental Imbalance: The dragon will send a rainbow cascading down from the clouds and onto you, imbuing you with an element at random. The element will cloak your entire body, forcing you to attack uncontrollably until the element dissipates.
Bubble Beam: Large bubbles will appear in the field around you, steadily draining you of mana until an ally breaks you out. If you're not freed fast enough, the bubble will drain all your mana, rendering you unconscious.

The dragon will not come down for the duration of the fight, making it extremely difficult to launch any counterattacks, and while the fight goes on, the storm continues to ravage the city, pushing the water levels steadily higher.

Ultimately, one of the Avisle leaders will pull you aside. It seems there's going to have to be another way to survive the storm, and violence isn't it.

2. CHOICE: PEACE IS GOING TO HAVE TO BE AN OPTION

Among the chaos and the panic, a few of the guild leaders take you aside. The first one to speak proposes this: this isn't the first time the Dragon has beset Avisle, and ancient texts speak of a ritual that will draw the beast back to sleep's embrace.

One of the others will shake their head, arguing that there's no way to know if any such ritual will work. The priority should be evacuating the city for safer lands, even if it means leaving Avisle City to fall.

And so, it seems you have a choice to make.

Perform the Ritual: In the courtyard of the Guild Hub, people have gathered to seal the dragon away. The ritual itself involves an incantation and an ancient dance, ending with the sacrifice of an important memory as a show of sincerity. No one knows for certain if the ritual will work, but they do know that the more who give, the higher the chances.

Adventurers desperate to ensure the ritual works may also offer up their soul gem, but this will result in them forgetting their identity entirely.

Evacuate the City: Those of little faith may instead choose to evacuate the city. The citizens are injured and wearied by the torrential rain, and the structure of the city continues to break dangerously from the storm. Adventurers can opt to help the citizens gather what they can, find their loved ones, and escape to the highgrounds of the Dandelion Fields.

But beware, those who chose to save Princess Andalina last month will be met with disdain, and the citizens may not be as cooperative with their attempts to help.

Do Nothing: Hey, isn't this all a game? Maybe you choose to just wait out the storm until you're back in your cozy bed in Dodo House.

Players may thread any number of outcomes, but can only report one of their threads here for rewards!

3. DODO DOWNPOUR

In Crane City, April means spring showers—though it seems like it's really coming down lately! The storms are inescapable, so enjoy going to work and getting hit by sheets of rain everyday, and be sure to pack an umbrella. Though sometimes the storms are intense enough to break them, so you might have to share. The weather is a tumult, but not impossible to travel through… yet.

And while Dodo House is usually a safe haven, the weather affects it just as badly. Your room may spring a very sad, persistent leak, its windows blown open by harsh wind–maybe you should try staying with a neighbor? The house itself sounds sad as well, creaking and occasionally losing power, leaving its residents in the dark. But it does its best to keep some fireplaces and fresh towels available at all times, and floating candles will (spookily) hang in the air to help light anyone's way.

4. CRANE CITY BLUES

Whether it's at home or on your way to get groceries, sopping wet, the rain might subside just enough to see a rainbow. How pretty! Though the sight of it will stir something in you, even in the OFF world. Namely, it's a surge of those pesky elements. Thought you were free of those in Crane City? This rainbow is apparently here to remind you that you're never safe.

♔ Light & Fire: All this rain is dampening your inner light. Characters will experience a seemingly unshakeable melancholy, one that fluctuates with the weather. Sunny means less depression, stormy means more. Good luck getting out of bed when the rain is really bearing down.

♔ Water & Earth: Everything you touch turns wet, even if you escape inside. This includes clothes, shoes, any surface you come into contact with, and other people (not like that). Try not to catch a cold! It won't be easy. Weather around you seems to get even worse too, as though a storm (or hail, icy rain, etc) cloud is following over your head.

♔ Wind & Dark: Something about the rain just really makes you think dramatically about the past–which might be weird, depending on the choices you've made this month? This nostalgic spell might make you want to share elements of your tragic backstory... to anyone who's willing to listen. Very noir.

You heard the warning. We're not supposed to go out into the city right now.

[That's the reason they even in the house in the first place. Katsuki would've been outside still helping people if they hadn't called for everyone to stay inside. The streets are wet but deserted just from looking out the window. He pushes himself up regardless, knowing Izuku has that same urge to be useful, helpful, even without their Quirks or official hero status.]

Let's go check the attic first. We can still make sure this place is as secure as possible.

We're going to get the whole house wet...anyway, I don't think the warning is that serious, is it?

[ No, he knows it is, he just...

Doesn't think he'll do any excessive damage to himself. Still, he'll go with Katsuki - if only to find out that the magical house is indeed capable of making storm preparations all on its own. ]

Keep to the center of the halls. No one else is making any checks.

[Which leaves it to them to do so. Or it should be an indication that Izuku's right and the house can handle itself. But Katsuki's going to go all the way up to the attic and stick his head inside before realizing the other hero's right. It's bone dry and a little warmer up there... not a drip in sight.]

Fuck, it's clear.

Well...not quite.

[ Izuku points to the drips on the center of the floor now...he did try to grab towels on the way up but they're sort of wet too. He's been trying to mop up behind them anyway like an idiot. ]

I know what WE'RE making! I was checking for leaks in the ROOF!

[Katsuki's already heading back towards the ladder. Though since their Quirks work inside the Dodo House... he stays on the latter and activates a small handful of explosions, reaching for the puddles to see if he can maintain the bursts long enough to dry it out.]

[ Not a bad idea. Starting with "level one" Quirks means training them back up...Izuku doesn't have anything super useful for puddles, though. ]

Maybe you could move the water.

[Can he use all his Quirks, just at Level 1, or is it the whole OFA is Level 1, so only bitty strength? Sans the bone breaking now, of course.]

If I could do that, do you think we'd have fucking puddles following us?

[Katsuki can create it; he can't yet manipulate what's already there. That's next on the training.]

and that truly sad little wisp of Blackwhip he got all proud of that one time. ]

Maybe we really should just sit in the bathroom until we stop leaking...

[The worm. Well then Katsuki's gonna keep doing firecrackers and work on drying the floor. While he's obviously dripping water all down the ladder and onto the floor below...

[At least let him get a towel or five to clean up the mess and then they can sit in the bathtub.]

[ It's a magical house with a lot of rooms and Japanese folks, there's PROBABLY a bathroom like they'd usually go to? Somewhere in there. Just a place to scrub off and then sit in warm water and hope that overcomes the cold water. Why couldn't they drip warm water? ]

Otherwise we're just gonna be stuck cleaning our water the whole time, haha...

[Because dripping warm water would feel like peeing (or bleeding) in your clothes and that's way more uncomfortable than cold water. More mentally uncomfortable at least. Physically it's not as much as a thermal shock, but... Katsuki's going to at least clean up the attic and ladder and area beneath, using towels to mop up behind himself.

THEN they can go look for the bathroom.]

Laugh again and I'll force feed you this entire towel.

[You know, they could also go sit out on the balcony. Or the roof. Be one of those weird people that likes to watch the storm. Since they're already wet and all... Maybe go play in the rain when it calms down some?]

Wha - I wasn't laughing at you?! [ Izuku did want to go outside earlier but Katsuki pointed out there was a warning to stay inside so... ]

It was just, you know...

[There was a difference between going out in town and running around there and going to sit outside within the "confines" of the building...]

Uh-huh.

[Mopping up isn't too long of a chore, so he's done enough. Attic and ladder are cleaned.]

Where's the bathroom?

The last time I saw it, it was on the second floor.

[ BUT, YOU KNOW...magic house. They may as well START there, though. ]

The fuck? You should always have a bathroom on the first floor!

[Even whaps his fist against the wall, as if he's reprimanding the house for such a poor layout choice.

Totally is...]

[ Katsuki, do you REALLY want to reprimand the magical house that moves things around while you're trying to find something? Do you? ]

W-well, I don't think it really cares about that...things normally kinda stay put for a few days, though. Usually. Our rooms are generally the same - mine moved only once so far.

[He kicked a robot designed to take down a smiling maniac! YES HE'S BITCHING AT THE MAGIC HOUSE FOR BEING SHIT AT LAYOUT!! Take care of the people inside you, damn building! Want them to go to a hotel or something?!]

Then it's gonna have people pissing in the hallways if they can't find a bathroom.

[Katsuki stalks off towards the stairs, using a foot to drag the towel behind him to sop up the water he's leaving in his wake. At least it's mostly soggy footprints.]

I mean, I can usually always find my suite, and there's bathrooms there? And if you're nice it'll often help you find things...

[ Izuku trails off, realizing this means Katsuki might get lost a lot... ]

Che! Maybe if it didn't shift shit around all the time, people wouldn't have to ask for help finding crap!

[Said in that tilting "suggestion" voice that means he was intending for the house to take notice and listen to his sarcastic brilliance.]

I, uh, don't think we can really reason with a house, Kacchan.

[ HE'S...willing to let Katsuki try, though. ]

If it's a magic house then it can have some fucking decency!

[So he thinks at least. But he doesn't seem to be kicking walls anymore, instead putting more effort to finding the bathroom.]

[ They can find it slightly easily...but Katsuki's towels in there are going to NOT be warmed, probably. Subtle diss from a house. ]

[FUCK YOU, DODO!! Maybe he'll go walk the halls and just DRIP everywhere!!

Bastard. Katsuki sweeps the towel behind him with his foot, having mopped up most of his soggy steps. Once in the bathroom, he heads for the bath to turn on the water.]

Magical but not sentient, huh.

Hm...I'd say, differently sentient?

[ Izuku makes sure they haven't left much of a mess behind as well, and then once they're inside figures he'll strip down so he can get in and at least TRY to dry his clothes out while they do so... ]

Like, I guess a house just doesn't think like a human, probably.

[Katsuki shoves his hand under the faucet to test the temperature, then pulls it back with an ironic shake. Like that'd dry it off when it's still dripping. Dammit.

He leans back and toes off his sneakers by stepping on the heels.]

If it's sentient, even stupid sentience, it can learn.

[Though since his towels were not warm, that indicates it's sentient enough to plan revenge, even petty revenge, and is thus a SMART ASS HOUSE!!]
